Purification, prosperity, matchmaking
Water cleanses as a symbol of purification. The swirl pattern is often regarded as a water pattern that promotes faith in prayers for rain and bountiful harvests. However, its original meaning is pregnant with the ideas of life and death, evoking reincarnation and the transmigration of souls. The pattern is imbued with a magical power symbolizing light and energy, expressing this original meaning in the form of light. It is a crucial element of the art piece “Mizuha,” which is drawn with undulating and overlapping light from the sun and moon.
